I am a figurative painter whose overall description of my work would be “Deceiving nature”. Deceiving meant both as in mother nature with its deceiving lights and shadows, shapes and reflections and as in nature of things and situations, that includes the human interaction with nature and the possible consequences of the meeting between human nature and Mother nature. I try to emphasize the deceiving nature by use of darkness and light, contorted or flat perspectives and symbolic interpretations of certain parts of the picture, so that the reality and fiction are intertwined. The light source could be a part of the motif, e.g. the sun, moon, or electric light of some sorts or it could just be the quality of the paint, put on in thin layers leaving the pigments as luminous as possible.
